It Really Is a New Day

My mind has continually thought about what Tuesday meant for America and what it means for Birdie. For the first time in our history we have elected a man who is black to be our 44th president- Barack Obama. He is an inspiration to all through out the world. He is an inspiration to me.

What I love is that Birdie will grow up in a world where the color of your skin cannot prohibit what you can do. I have no doubt that in her life time, probably in mine there will be a female president.

What I also love is that my generation is starting to lead the country and our world. The baby boomers do not think like us. They love to fight with each other and do not seek a spirit of unity. There is too much to do in the world for fighting amongst democrats and republicans. People are fed up with a Washington who does not work for the people, but for themselves and the lobbists. There is a new day of change coming to American. I am exicted to see where it goes.

I leave you with quote from Obama speach in NH.

"We will remember that there is something happening in America. That we are not as divided as our politics suggest. That we are one people. We are one nation. And together we will begin the next great chapter in the American story with three words that will ring from coast to coast, from sea to shining sea, yes we can."

American's global reputation has been tainted by what our government has done over the last eight years. And as our world continues to shrink, this has been detrimental to our standing in the world as a leader of peace, freedom and democracy. As Thomas Friedman book The World is Flat
